Does Force of Nature Really Work? The Science, Results & Why It’s Effective
We know what you might be thinking: an appliance that converts salt, water & vinegar into a multi-purpose cleaner and disinfectant that kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria. Does Force of Nature actually work? It does, and we’ve got our good friend Chemistry to thank! Here’s how it works.
The Chemistry: Why Force of Nature Works
Force of Nature uses a technology called electrolyzed water, which is already used in industrial applications like wound healing, eye care, veterinary care, organic crop production, and green cleaning & sanitizing. Electricity changes the chemical composition of salt & water into two new ingredients — made in industrial tanks but sized down by Force of Nature for your countertop.
You fill the electrolyzer with tap water, add a Capsule of salt, water & vinegar, and the device passes an electrical charge through the solution, creating:
- Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) — the disinfectant & sanitizer. It’s the same substance your immune system produces to fight infection and is used in hospital disinfectants, wound therapy & eye care products.
- Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) — the cleaner & degreaser. At extremely low concentrations in Force of Nature (0.0000003%), it’s safe but still effective.
With this chemistry, Force of Nature creates a potent multi-purpose cleaner and a federally EPA-registered disinfectant & sanitizer — as effective as bleach but without harmful chemicals.
Force of Nature Kills Germs As Effectively As Bleach
Force of Nature kills 99.9% of germs, including Staph, MRSA, Norovirus, Influenza A, Salmonella, and Listeria when used as directed. Even better, Force of Nature kills viruses and bacteria with no harmful chemicals, fumes or residues. To earn EPA registration, Force of Nature passed strict EPA-required antimicrobial testing protocols across multiple batches, with suppliers, purity, concentration & processing of all ingredients approved, all within strict statistical limits.
Wondering about COVID-19? Force of Nature is a hospital-grade disinfectant that’s on EPA’s list N, the disinfectants approved for use against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19. Force of Nature is EPA registered for sanitizing and disinfecting hospitals, ICUs, veterinary clinics, schools, daycares, and more. In fact it’s the only EPA registered disinfectant and cleaner you can make on your kitchen countertop.
Force of Nature Cleans & Deodorizes Just as Well as Top Brands
Force of Nature is just as effective as Formula 409 on grease, Windex on glass, Scrubbing Bubbles on soap scum, Febreze on odors, and Resolve on rugs.
Unlike typical natural cleaners, it’s free of added fragrances, dyes, preservatives, and surfactants – meaning no skin or respiratory allergens or irritants. And in case you’re surprised that “natural brands” can contain toxic chemicals — that’s because there are no regulations dictating safety standards for products labeled “natural”.
Force of Nature is safe on virtually any surface: sealed stone, glass, stainless steel, porcelain, tile, wood, rubber, plastic, composite, and lots more.
It Works for the Planet Too
Because Force of Nature uses reusable bottles, you can eliminate single-use plastic bottles from your cleaning routine. Since it replaces multi-purpose cleaners, deodorizers, rug & glass cleaners, sanitizers & disinfectants, you eliminate all those plastic bottles too. Plus, with no toxic chemicals entering the water system, our oceans are happier. We’re proud to be Green Seal certified for environmental excellence and certified Carbon Neutral too.

We’re parents too — and we know how hard it is to find products that work without exposing your family to harmful chemicals. That tradeoff always seems to come up, whether it’s baby wash, deodorant, or laundry detergent. That’s why we started Force of Nature.
When we learned about electrolyzed water technology, we knew that if we could size it down for families’ counters (and budgets!), it would be the solution families were looking for — and we’re proud to offer it to you.
