FAQs

Q: Does it kill viruses and bacteria?

A: Yes Force of Nature is an EPA registered disinfectant & sanitizer registered for use in hospitals, ICUs, schools, daycares, veterinary clinics and more. It kills 99.9% of germs including Norovirus, Influenza A, Salmonella, MRSA, Staph & Listeria when used as directed.

Q: Does this kill coronavirus? Does it kill the Delta variant?

A: Force of Nature is on EPA’s list N, the disinfectants approved for use against COVID-19. Force of Nature has demonstrated effectiveness against viruses harder to kill than SARS-CoV-2 on hard, non-porous surfaces. Therefore, Force of Nature can be used against COVID-19 when used in accordance with the directions for use against Norovirus on hard non-porous surfaces. EPA expects all products on List N to kill all strains and variants of SARS-CoV-2. EPA Emerging Pathogen Policy.

Q: Do you have a warranty or guarantee?

A: Yes we have both! As long as you use your Force of Nature according to our instructions, it’s covered by a limited one year warranty. We also have a 100% Happiness Guarantee, which means that if you’re not completely satisfied with your Force of Nature Starter Kit or Bundle, you can return it to us within 30 days for a full refund minus the return shipping cost.

Q: Does it have a scent?

A:  Force of Nature has no added fragrances, so it’s perfect for families struggling with asthma and allergies. It has a light swimming pool scent that’s naturally created when salt, water & vinegar are electrolyzed. The scent is from the active ingredient, hypochlorous acid, which is the same active ingredient commonly used in wound, eye & veterinary care products.

Q: Why does the cleaner only last 2 weeks?

A: Just like bubbles in a carbonated drink, hypochlorous acid starts to dissipate over time. To be sure Force of Nature is at its optimal power, you should use it within 2 weeks. The bottle is 12 oz, vs a typical cleaner which is around 26-32 oz. Most families use about a bottle a week when they use it for all their cleaning, disinfecting & deodorizing needs (replacing disinfectants, deodorizers, kitchen, bath & glass cleaners). Families who also use it on floors & rugs use even more. The light ring around the bottom of the Electrolyzer is color coded to let you know when it’s time to make a new batch.

Q: Are your capsules recyclable?

A:  Absolutely! With our Capsules & reusable bottles, you reduce your plastic waste from typical cleaning products by 97%. Force of Nature is Green Seal certified, which means it meets Green Seal’s highest sustainability standards in 4 areas: preserving the climate, ensuring clean water, minimizing waste, and protecting humans.

Q: Can I use it to clean stone? On what other surfaces?

A: Use it to clean virtually any surface – sealed stone including granite, marble & quartz, wood, laminate, stainless steel, glass, grout, tile, porcelain, plastic, rubber & even on high chair trays & cutting boards. Deodorize trash, diaper pails, kitty litter, pet toys & bedding. Clean colorfast rugs (great for pet accidents!), stuffed animals, carseats & strollers. Always test first for color fastness in an inconspicuous spot, let dry before proceeding and don’t use on fabrics labeled “only non-chlorine bleach”. Because Force of Nature has no whiteners like bleach or titanium, it won’t remove set in rust, hard water, or mold stains on porous surfaces. With soap scum, depending on build up & surface porosity, you may need a mild abrasive like baking soda with your scrub brush the first few times. This is because soap scum builds up in layers & can require a few applications to break down. If you’re using Force of Nature on brass or copper, either rinse with water or wipe until it’s thoroughly dry because it shouldn’t sit on soft metals over time.

Q: Has Force of Nature been tested in 3rd party labs?

A: Yes Force of Nature has been tested by 3rd party independent labs for cleaning performance, germ-kill efficacy, ingredient impact on people, and environmental impact. Germ-kill testing and cleaning performance lab test results vs the leading brands are here. You’ll see that Force of Nature kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria and is just as effective as Windex on glass, Formula 409 on grease, Scrubbing Bubbles on soap scum, Febreze on odors, and Resolve on rugs. Force of Nature has also been given the highest rating by the Mayo Clinic’s allergy rating system. We’re also proud to be Green Seal certified for our sustainability leadership. Green Seal certification is awarded to products that meet the highest sustainability standards in 4 areas: protecting humans, preserving the climate, ensuring clean water, and minimizing waste.

Q: Does it work with hard water?

A:  If you have hard water (> 100ppm), please use a water softener, distilled or de-ionized water instead of tap water. This is because the minerals in hard water interfere with the chemistry, making the cleaner less effective, and can shorten the life of your Force of Nature.

Q: How does the cost of Force of Nature compare to other cleaning products?

A:  The on-going cost of the all-in-one multi-purpose cleaner, deodorizer and disinfectant you make is $.09 an ounce (or $.08 an ounce for subscribers), which is up to 80% less per ounce than typical natural cleaners like Clorox Clean-Up, Seventh Generation Disinfectant Spray, Windex Glass Cleaner, Lysol Disinfectant Spray and Scrubbing Bubbles.

Q: How much Force of Nature would I use?

A:  You’d use the same amount of Force of Nature as you use of the products you replace it with. For example if you use it to replace kitchen, bath, glass, floor cleaners, deodorizers and disinfectant sprays, you’d use the same amount of Force of Nature as you do of those products combined.

Q: Why does the cleaner only last 2 weeks?

A: Just like bubbles in a carbonated drink, hypochlorous acid starts to dissipate over time. To be sure Force of Nature is at its optimal disinfecting power, you should use it within 2 weeks. The bottle is 12 oz, vs a typical cleaner which is around 26-32 oz. Most families use about a bottle a week when they use it for all their cleaning & deodorizing needs (replacing kitchen, bath, glass cleaners & deodorizers). Families who also use it on floors & rugs use even more. The light ring around the bottom of the Electrolyzer is color coded to let you know when it’s time to make a new batch.

Q: How do I use it to disinfect or sanitize?

A: We’re glad you asked because a lot of people don’t know the proper way to use disinfectants (not just Force of Nature)! On hard, non-porous surfaces, clean surface of soil or residue so that the disinfectant can come into contact with 100% of the surface. Spray Force of Nature on surface until thoroughly wet. Allow surface to remain wet for 10 minutes. Let dry naturally or wipe surface with clean cloth or towel. Most people don’t realize that the disinfectants you buy at the store typically have a 10 minute dwell time, and that you need to pre-clean the surface. No matter what disinfectant you use, don’t forget to read the usage instructions carefully.

Q: Can I see your MSDS?

A: You can find our MSDS here.

It does seem to clean easy messes well. Did not do anything for mold in the grout of showers. Or the caked on mess on the stove. Don’t throw out your bleach!

    • Meghan Jones

Hi – We contacted you right away with a couple of tips but haven’t heard back. Your mold on the grout in your shower – if you have staining then it might take a few applications and an abrasive like a scrub brush with baking soda. The reason is that grout staining builds up in layers over time, so it might take a few applications to remove it. Your caked on mess on the stove – it’s critical to really saturate the surface and let it sit for a few minutes if it’s really caked on, but if it’s burned on, you might need a heavy duty industrial strength cleaner vs a regular all-purpose cleaner. Force of Nature is a great all-purpose cleaner but it’s not industrial strength. Hope this helps!

I became very interested in healthy, green cleaning products when I was pregnant with my first child. I purchased the Honest Company and Seventh Generation cleaning products, among others. This product replaces so many different cleaning products we have in our home (even carpet cleaners such as Resolve) with one great product that is cheaper than those other brands (less than one dollar to make a 12-ounce bottle of cleaning solution). I love that it is as powerful and effective as bleach (great to reducing exposure to stomach virus germs) but without the harsh smell or residue of bleach. I love that is has only three natural ingredients, including vinegar, but does not smell like vinegar at all. We use this all over our house, including the high chair, baby changing pad, diaper pail, baby toys, etc.

We’ve got three little ones 5 and under. Two who have environmental and serious food allergies. Clean is a priority. To say it can get messy at times is an understatement. The force of nature is convenient, safe and easy to use. I love that I can spray down an area moments before my kiddos have their fingers all over it and know it’s safe. I use it for countertops, dining room table, lunch boxes, toys, and definitely everywhere in the bathroom. The stand is beautiful and we keep it right out on the kitchen counter. It’s a great addition to our household.

I first heard about this product when my friend liked it on Facebook. I was intrigued so I watched the video. I will admit I was super skeptical at first. Yeah right that cleans. But I am a huge researcher and love to read other reviews. I scoured the internet for any information I could find on the product. I found a couple blogs that had great reviews and even did their own independent testing for effectiveness. I received the $30 odd coupon so I figured I would try it.

A little background about myself. I have extreme sensitivity to chemicals in fragrances and cleaning supplies. Even excessive dirt and exhaust. Sore throat ,headache, burning eyes you name it. Even some natural products bothered me. So i resorted to cleaning with water and vinegar with a drop of fresh lemon juice. It still didn’t get rid of the lingering vinegar smell and my husband hated it. He would always complain. So I figured it was worth a shot.

The package came promptly and in a recycled box. Inside were directions, an explanation for the kids (which really helped us adults too ), the base with electrolyzer, a squirt bottle, 5 activation packs and a travel spritzer.

The directions are easy. Fill the chamber with water, add the activation pack, and turn on the magic. My boys loved to watch it bubble. Six minutes later it was done and ready for use. I first used it in my 3 year olds stinky shoes (he doesn’t like socks). It had a very faint clean smell sort of a very diluted bleach. I sprayed it in one shoe and let it try. It did help significantly with the smell. It wasn’t roses and sunshine but it was a lot better. I have also used it to deodorize the bathroom or stinky kitchen smell.

Cleaning with it is a breeze. I really like how easy it is. And because there aren’t any harsh chemicals I can clean my babies toys, high chair, pacifier and even hands without wondering what he is putting in his mouth.

The travel bottle comes in handy and is used as a hand sanitizer when out and about, if the pacifier drops or cleaning sippy cups that get chucked out of the stroller. The spray bottle is cool too. Someone else said they couldn’t get the flow down but I like that it has a continuous spray feature like an aerosol bottle without hurting the environment.

I am very impressed with the product thus far. The customer service is great too. Always helpful when I have a question. I recommend this product.

We are so excited to discover this product. We have been using natural derived cleaners since i was pregnant. Now with a baby i used to worry about all the added ingredients and residue, since my little one likes to chew and lick everything. We came accross this product on facebook and decided to give it a shot. We are so pleased with the results and cleaning power without all the toxic chemicals. We use it on everything, including my baby’s toys and play area. I love the travel bottle so i can take it with me to the park or restaurants and clean the yucky high chairs. At home we use it to clean bathrooms leaving the sink and toilet super shiny. Love this product and I’m so impress by how simple and clean it is.

  • Brandi

I really happy with the cleaning ability!! I love that it fits our “green” household.

  • Kaitlin Olle

Wonderful! So far I’m only on my second batch but I’m already a believer. I love having only one bottle of cleaning supplies (I’m going through a whole house purge and this helps!). I use it for everything, even spraying the kids’ hands before meals since I don’t yet trust their hand washing skills. Definitely recommended.

  • Erin

Love it! I have asthma and a little one and now I don’t worry about my breathing or her touching anything harmful. My only complaint as someone else mentioned is the bottle, it doesn’t spray continuously, it stops working and then it will start up again for a few more sprays. I will email Force of Nature regarding this, but I love the product, I love that I got rid of all my other cleaning products and made more room on my shelves! Its so nice to not have to wear a mask and have an asthma attack! Now I don’t worry about getting bleach on my clothes. It fits perfectly on my counter in my mud room and small and convenient. Highly recommend.

  • Kristin

As a mom of 4 young kids, I definitely want to use something that cleans well, but is also safe! I love Force of Nature because it is something that even my kids can use when they are doing chores. Just today, I was cleaning and and my 8 year old daughter said, “Oooh! That smells fresh!” I love that there are no harmful chemicals that I am cleaning with and that the scent is not overpowering. Fresh, clean, easy! I love Force of Nature and can’t imagine going back to anything else!

  • Melanie

I like it for wiping counters, tabletops and use it in my floor spray mop but I haven’t found other uses. I can’t get soap scum or mold stains off. I have to scrub hard with a scrubby brush or sponge when I would just use a mibrofiber cloth or paper towel to just wipe clean with natural/organic cleaners, baking sofa or plain kitchen soap (7th generation). I still have to try it on glass. I’m not confident on its germ killing ability and trying to find the science and testing behind it. I did enjoy spraying it into the garbage can to deodorize, it seemed effective. I ordered a kit, refills and extra bottle. The bottle in the kit acts up and the trigger doesn’t spray easily and sometimes doesn’t spray at all, the backup bottle works great.

    • Meghan Jones

Hi – We contacted you right away to see if we could help you get better performance but have not heard back. We suggest these tips: Soap scum – if you have a lot of build up, it might take a few applications and an abrasive. Soap scum builds up in layers over time, so it might take an abrasive the first few times to really break it down. Glass or Stainless – Because it doesn’t have any drying accelerants in it like typical cleaners (for safety reasons), try wiping with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel until the surface is completely dry. If you are using a micro-fiber cloth, that can get streaky.
Science – Hypochlorous acid has been widely researched & used in the industrial space across multiple applications (for example in wound care, cleaning hospitals, vet care products, etc) because it’s so effective. Here are links that might help:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypochlorous_acid https://www.forceofnatureclean.com/electrolyzed-water-101/ Bottle – You said your second bottle was okay but the first was clogging. As we said in our email, we’d be happy to send you a replacement, just let us know.

  • Valerie

I love this cleaner! It’s so simple and easy to prep. And I appreciate that you don’t have to use it all up in the first two weeks and it won’t go to waste (although so far I have used it all up). I’m still working on convincing my husband that it is actually cleaning…he’s a skeptic at heart. But I’ve used it to clean everything from the bathroom and shower to the highchair and baby toys. My only complaint is that the spray bottle is just horrible. I’m going to try to replace it with something else. It leaks but most of the time I can’t even get anything to come out of it, especially when the amount of cleaner starts running low. Hopefully that gets improved in the next iteration of the product. But otherwise, very happy!

    • Meghan Jones

Valerie we are so very sorry about your spray bottle – that shouldn’t be happening. We will get a new one out to you pronto!

  • Kimberly

I’ve had this since Christmas, and I love it so far! I use it every day on my countertops, smudges on windows, high chairs, toys, tabletops, you name it. I’ve even used it for pretreating laundry and cleaning spots on our couch with great results. I’m impressed with how many uses it has, and I love that I can feel good about using it around my toddler and infant.
