Even more information

Q: Does it kill viruses and bacteria?

A: Yes Force of Nature is an EPA registered disinfectant & sanitizer registered for use in hospitals, ICUs, schools, daycares, veterinary clinics and more. It kills 99.9% of germs including Norovirus, Influenza A, Salmonella, MRSA, Staph & Listeria when used as directed. EPA registration information here.

Q: Does this kill coronavirus?

A: Force of Nature is on the EPA’s list of Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19. Force of Nature has demonstrated effectiveness against viruses harder to kill than SARS-CoV-2 on hard, non-porous surfaces. Therefore, Force of Nature can be used against COVID-19 when used in accordance with the directions for use against Norovirus on hard non-porous surfaces. See EPA Emerging Pathogen Policy. EPA registration information here.

Q: Does it have a scent?

A:  Force of Nature has no added fragrances, so it’s perfect for families struggling with asthma and allergies. It has a light swimming pool scent that’s naturally created when salt, water & vinegar are electrolyzed. The scent is from the active ingredient, hypochlorous acid, which is the same active ingredient commonly used in wound, eye & veterinary care products.

Q: Why does the cleaner only last 2 weeks?

A: Just like bubbles in a carbonated drink, hypochlorous acid starts to dissipate over time. To be sure Force of Nature is at its optimal power, you should use it within 2 weeks. The bottle is 12 oz, vs a typical cleaner which is around 26-32 oz. Most families use about a bottle a week when they use it for all their cleaning, disinfecting & deodorizing needs (replacing disinfectants, deodorizers, kitchen, bath & glass cleaners). Families who also use it on floors & rugs use even more. The light ring around the bottom of the Electrolyzer is color coded to let you know when it’s time to make a new batch.

Q: Are your capsules recyclable?

A:  Yes! And our bottles are re-usable, so you can completely eliminate all those wasteful single-use bottles.

Q: Does it work with hard water?

A:  If you have hard water (> 100ppm), please use a water softener, distilled or de-ionized water instead of tap water. This is because the minerals in hard water interfere with the chemistry, making the cleaner less effective, and can shorten the life of your Force of Nature.

Q: Can I use it to clean stone? On what other surfaces?

A: Use it to clean virtually any surface – sealed stone including granite, marble & quartz, wood, laminate, stainless steel, glass, grout, tile, porcelain, plastic, rubber & even on high chair trays & cutting boards. Deodorize trash, diaper pails, kitty litter, pet toys & bedding. Clean colorfast rugs (great for pet accidents!), stuffed animals, carseats & strollers. Always test first for color fastness in an inconspicuous spot, let dry before proceeding and don’t use on fabrics labeled “only non-chlorine bleach”. Because Force of Nature has no whiteners like bleach or titanium, it won’t remove set in rust, hard water, or mold stains on porous surfaces. With soap scum, depending on build up & surface porosity, you may need a mild abrasive like baking soda with your scrub brush the first few times. This is because soap scum builds up in layers & can require a few applications to break down. If you’re using Force of Nature on brass or copper, either rinse with water or wipe until it’s thoroughly dry because it shouldn’t sit on soft metals over time.

Q: How do I use it to disinfect or sanitize?

A: We’re glad you asked because a lot of people don’t know the proper way to use disinfectants (not just Force of Nature)! On hard, non-porous surfaces, clean surface of soil or residue so that the disinfectant can come into contact with 100% of the surface. Spray Force of Nature on surface until thoroughly wet. Allow surface to remain wet for 10 minutes. Let dry naturally or wipe surface with clean cloth or towel. Most people don’t realize that the disinfectants you buy at the store typically have a 10 minute dwell time, and that you need to pre-clean the surface. No matter what disinfectant you use, don’t forget to read the usage instructions carefully.

I love it. I love the science behind it, the sustainability of it and how non-toxic it is! But the bottle stopped working really soon which was kinda annoying. So I had to get a new bottle for it.

  • Leslie Johnson

I love this stuff! I keep a couple bottles out in counters and use multiple times a day! And great customer service!!

I have been using force of nature for over 2 years now and I love it. My husband is always skeptical of the natural products I choose to use. He never felt like they cleaned surfaces as well as what he had used his whole life. At first it was just me using force of nature to clean the house, but now he is always asking where the bottle is so he can use it to clean up messes, too . We use it on everything. The bathroom, kitchen, tables, and floor. It even gets stains out of the couch and WHITE carpet left by our 5 children. I recommend force of nature to everyone I know!

We love this system so much that I bought one for my pregnant sister so that she can have a safe and non toxic cleaner around her baby. The only down side is the waste of plastic tubes. It is frustrating that the type 5 plastic is not recyclable in most places. If there was a change in packaging for a more green footprint with no discarded plastic waste….it would be absolutely perfect and 5 star worthy. However, because of this, I give it four stars.

Our son, and Orthodontist, put us onto this awesome product. We use it on all our cleaning needs around the house and in the car. Knowing that it is fresh and harsh chemical clean is a huge bonus. We have used this on most surfaces around the house, but were especially amazed at how well it does on removing stains from the carpet. During these trying times we are all keeping things wiped down a whole lot more than before (at least we are) and very happy that we were introduced to Force of Nature. It gets our 5+ stars for Awesome. Thank you all at Force of Nature…not to mention outstanding customer service to boot.

  • Michelle Larson

The stuff is great ! If you spray it into the garbage can and let it dry there is no smell left. I’ve been spraying down my shower every other day to keep it clean and sparkling. It has a refreshing light clean smell no chemicals and that’s why I love it.

We have been using Force of Nature for almost a year now and absolutely love it! It cleans so well and is a perfect all in one cleaner. It leaves places smelling clean without fragrances. I can hand my kids (ages 4 and 6) a bottle of the cleaning solution and not worry about it being harmful. They love cleaning with it and watching the unit make the solution! We have experienced great customer service as well. We are lifelong customers.

I just received my new kit (still have the original model) and love it! I’ve relied on Force of Nature for years of household and automobile cleaning and disinfecting. I use it to deodorize sports gear, trash cans and it even helped on set-in perspiration odor in a gown. I wouldn’t be without it. In addition to a great product, this company has great customer service and support!

Smells like bleach because it is bleach. After buying this and realizing that it smelled like bleach, I looked into how bleach is made. Bleach is made by using a type of salt and running electricity through it, electrolyzing. This is what this system does. I will be getting rid of this system. Sticking with vinegar and essential oils.

Hypochlorous acid is not the same as bleach or diluted bleach; it has a different chemical composition than bleach (sodium hypochlorite). The formula for sodium hypochlorite is NaOCl and the formula for hypochlorous acid is HOCl. Hypochlorous acid is the same substance your white blood cells produce to fight infection. And it’s so gentle it’s used in wound healing, eye care and veterinary care products. When the pH of bleach is lowered (made acidic) the hypochlorite converts to hypochlorous. Bleach is defined as 1) having a pH of 11+ 2) being at a concentration high enough to remove the color from fabric and 3) 99%+ NaOCl; none of these apply to hypochlorous acid. An interesting fact is that you need a lot more bleach to achieve the same anti-microbial power as hypochlorous acid. The order of magnitude varies by microbe, but overall HOCl is a much more efficient antimicrobial than bleach, so you don’t need nearly as much. That’s why it’s used in so many industrial applications where gentleness (on for example on wounds, animals, produce) is critical. This product is the best! In these troubled times of rampant germ exposure, I feel like I have the best defense at my fingertips. I love that it is safe around my grandchildren, pets and foodstuffs.

  • Lindsay

I feel silly getting so excited over a cleaner but this stuff is amazing. I am sensitive to toxins and was looking for something non toxic, effective, and affordable and this marks all the boxes. I feel safe using this around my toddler and he loves to help turn on the button when we make the solution. I’m converted for life.
