FAQs

Q: Does it kill viruses and bacteria?

A: Yes Force of Nature is an EPA registered disinfectant & sanitizer registered for use in hospitals, ICUs, schools, daycares, veterinary clinics and more. It kills 99.9% of germs including Norovirus, Influenza A, Salmonella, MRSA, Staph & Listeria when used as directed.

Q: Does this kill coronavirus? Does it kill the Delta variant?

A: Force of Nature is on EPA’s list N, the disinfectants approved for use against COVID-19. Force of Nature has demonstrated effectiveness against viruses harder to kill than SARS-CoV-2 on hard, non-porous surfaces. Therefore, Force of Nature can be used against COVID-19 when used in accordance with the directions for use against Norovirus on hard non-porous surfaces. EPA expects all products on List N to kill all strains and variants of SARS-CoV-2. EPA Emerging Pathogen Policy.

Q: Do you have a warranty or guarantee?

A: Yes we have both! As long as you use your Force of Nature according to our instructions, it’s covered by a limited one year warranty. We also have a 100% Happiness Guarantee, which means that if you’re not completely satisfied with your Force of Nature Starter Kit or Bundle, you can return it to us within 30 days for a full refund minus the return shipping cost.

Q: Does it have a scent?

A:  Force of Nature has no added fragrances, so it’s perfect for families struggling with asthma and allergies. It has a light swimming pool scent that’s naturally created when salt, water & vinegar are electrolyzed. The scent is from the active ingredient, hypochlorous acid, which is the same active ingredient commonly used in wound, eye & veterinary care products.

Q: Why does the cleaner only last 2 weeks?

A: Just like bubbles in a carbonated drink, hypochlorous acid starts to dissipate over time. To be sure Force of Nature is at its optimal power, you should use it within 2 weeks. The bottle is 12 oz, vs a typical cleaner which is around 26-32 oz. Most families use about a bottle a week when they use it for all their cleaning, disinfecting & deodorizing needs (replacing disinfectants, deodorizers, kitchen, bath & glass cleaners). Families who also use it on floors & rugs use even more. The light ring around the bottom of the Electrolyzer is color coded to let you know when it’s time to make a new batch.

Q: Are your capsules recyclable?

A:  Absolutely! With our Capsules & reusable bottles, you reduce your plastic waste from typical cleaning products by 97%. Force of Nature is Green Seal certified, which means it meets Green Seal’s highest sustainability standards in 4 areas: preserving the climate, ensuring clean water, minimizing waste, and protecting humans.

Q: Can I use it to clean stone? On what other surfaces?

A: Use it to clean virtually any surface – sealed stone including granite, marble & quartz, wood, laminate, stainless steel, glass, grout, tile, porcelain, plastic, rubber & even on high chair trays & cutting boards. Deodorize trash, diaper pails, kitty litter, pet toys & bedding. Clean colorfast rugs (great for pet accidents!), stuffed animals, carseats & strollers. Always test first for color fastness in an inconspicuous spot, let dry before proceeding and don’t use on fabrics labeled “only non-chlorine bleach”. Because Force of Nature has no whiteners like bleach or titanium, it won’t remove set in rust, hard water, or mold stains on porous surfaces. With soap scum, depending on build up & surface porosity, you may need a mild abrasive like baking soda with your scrub brush the first few times. This is because soap scum builds up in layers & can require a few applications to break down. If you’re using Force of Nature on brass or copper, either rinse with water or wipe until it’s thoroughly dry because it shouldn’t sit on soft metals over time.

Q: Has Force of Nature been tested in 3rd party labs?

A: Yes Force of Nature has been tested by 3rd party independent labs for cleaning performance, germ-kill efficacy, ingredient impact on people, and environmental impact. Germ-kill testing and cleaning performance lab test results vs the leading brands are here. You’ll see that Force of Nature kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria and is just as effective as Windex on glass, Formula 409 on grease, Scrubbing Bubbles on soap scum, Febreze on odors, and Resolve on rugs. Force of Nature has also been given the highest rating by the Mayo Clinic’s allergy rating system. We’re also proud to be Green Seal certified for our sustainability leadership. Green Seal certification is awarded to products that meet the highest sustainability standards in 4 areas: protecting humans, preserving the climate, ensuring clean water, and minimizing waste.

Q: Does it work with hard water?

A:  If you have hard water (> 100ppm), please use a water softener, distilled or de-ionized water instead of tap water. This is because the minerals in hard water interfere with the chemistry, making the cleaner less effective, and can shorten the life of your Force of Nature.

Q: How does the cost of Force of Nature compare to other cleaning products?

A:  The on-going cost of the all-in-one multi-purpose cleaner, deodorizer and disinfectant you make is $.09 an ounce (or $.08 an ounce for subscribers), which is up to 80% less per ounce than typical natural cleaners like Clorox Clean-Up, Seventh Generation Disinfectant Spray, Windex Glass Cleaner, Lysol Disinfectant Spray and Scrubbing Bubbles.

Q: How much Force of Nature would I use?

A:  You’d use the same amount of Force of Nature as you use of the products you replace it with. For example if you use it to replace kitchen, bath, glass, floor cleaners, deodorizers and disinfectant sprays, you’d use the same amount of Force of Nature as you do of those products combined.

Q: Why does the cleaner only last 2 weeks?

A: Just like bubbles in a carbonated drink, hypochlorous acid starts to dissipate over time. To be sure Force of Nature is at its optimal disinfecting power, you should use it within 2 weeks. The bottle is 12 oz, vs a typical cleaner which is around 26-32 oz. Most families use about a bottle a week when they use it for all their cleaning & deodorizing needs (replacing kitchen, bath, glass cleaners & deodorizers). Families who also use it on floors & rugs use even more. The light ring around the bottom of the Electrolyzer is color coded to let you know when it’s time to make a new batch.

Q: How do I use it to disinfect or sanitize?

A: We’re glad you asked because a lot of people don’t know the proper way to use disinfectants (not just Force of Nature)! On hard, non-porous surfaces, clean surface of soil or residue so that the disinfectant can come into contact with 100% of the surface. Spray Force of Nature on surface until thoroughly wet. Allow surface to remain wet for 10 minutes. Let dry naturally or wipe surface with clean cloth or towel. Most people don’t realize that the disinfectants you buy at the store typically have a 10 minute dwell time, and that you need to pre-clean the surface. No matter what disinfectant you use, don’t forget to read the usage instructions carefully.

We have been using Force of Nature for over 4 months now in our busy massage/chiropractic office. The tables are a breeze to wipe down, the individual patient odors/perfumes are erased and our hands are so happy we are not putting harsh chemicals on them over and over on a daily basis! Can’t ask for more with this green product……it is a win/win !!

  • Danielle

I have had Force of Nature cleaner for almost 2 months and it quickly became my go-to cleaner for nearly everything around my home. I am pregnant and have a toddler, so having something safe with real disinfecting power is a priority for me. I love that I can use it on just about every surface (including fabrics!!) in my home and it works in 30 seconds (versus 2+ minutes for most other sanitizers/disinfectants). I use it in/on the bathroom, kitchen, floors, electronics, toys, pacifiers, soft-sided dog crate, furniture, mattresses, carpet….and anything else that could potentially be dirty. And yes, it really does get the smell out of those stinky items lurking around your home that can’t be thrown in a washer. It does have a noticeable chlorine-like smell when sprayed initially, but it quickly transforms into a faint vinegar scent (and no scent at all when dry). I sanitize many areas of my home, like the toilet, counters, and coffee table, daily and one bottle typically lasts me 1-1.5 weeks.

The only cons I can think of are that it doesn’t work well on glass, grease, or serious grime (which would normally require a speacial/heavy-duty cleaner, like magic eraser, Tilex, or Greased Lightening). Those things don’t really bother me because I am really in it for the disinfecting properties, I just want to give people a realistic idea of its capabilities. It is not an all-in-one, but it is a most-in-one cleaner. The spray bottle also takes some getting used to and can be a little annoying when droplets of cleaner leak out onto the hand I’m spraying with. However, I enjoy the fine mist and long, continuous spray time which coats surfaces evenly and keeps my hand from getting tired from the number of times I have to squeeze the spray trigger.

I am so happy to have found a dependable cleaner that is safe for me and my littles to touch, has no harsh fumes, works on hard and soft surfaces, and quickly kills all germs around my home.

Our family has fallen in love with this… we keep finding more and more uses every week! My kids love to help clean – and this is a safe way to actually do that! Honestly, I think the most impressive thing is how well this product works to removes / neutralizes musty smells – I’ve sprayed it anywhere I smell must – running shoes, my washer, our shower, some workout clothing… and POOF the smell disappears like magic!

  • Kathy

I just got mine and have only been using it for a couple days. So far, not very impressed. I cleaned my stovetop and it left water spots and streaks. Had to respray it and there was still water stains left. I cleaned the granite countertops and there was a lot of residual water that I had to wipe up that I don’t normally see with a regular cleaner and last, it does not remove stains (i.e. berries) from countertops. Unfortunately, I have to use my Clorox for that. I’m hoping it grows on me but at this point, I don’t feel like it was worth the money.

Kathy we’d love to talk to you to learn more about your experience because we haven’t heard this before. We’re a start up so very anxious to learn from our customers! We’ll be contacting you within the next 24 hours and are hoping you’d be open to talking with us.

This is an amazing product. Not only is it great with daily cleanups and is versatile enough to cover granite, wood and other surfaces (vs using a different cleaner for each!) but it is AMAZING on disinfecting stinky lacrosse equipment and smelly cleats. With two boys and a girl all in sports, the mudroom used to smell like a locker room but now thanks to Force of Nature, it is back to smelling like home again!

Not to mention the fantastic lights show it puts on in a dark kitchen while it “magically” activates. Never gets dull or the kids.

    Thanks for an amazing product!!!

  • Mario

This product works great around the house. I had it for 2 weeks and I have successfully tested on every surface of the house (wood, tile, ceramic, glass). I have a toddler at home that thinks the house is her canvas, this product has helped me remove stickers from the wall, clean mud from the floors, disinfect her toys and clean all the accident from her potty training stage. I put the little bottle in my gym bag disinfect my boxing equipment. Great product…

  • Scott L.

I’m amazed that this 1 product has replaced about 10 different ones in our home and keeps everything sparkling clean: counter-top cleaner, window cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, hand sanitizer, sink and toilet bowl cleaner, deodorizer for stinky clothing, pre-treating wet exercise / sports clothes to prevent odor, spraying on flowers in vases so they last longer, all-purpose sanitizer, car cleaner, rug cleaner. When our kid is sick we sanitize everything he touches using Force of Nature and I have not yet caught his colds or flus. I like that it leaves no residue, so it’s a good replacement for Windex. I always felt that regular storebought cleaners were caustic chemicals. And I always disliked spending a fortune on different cleaners that were probably just a bunch of ammonia or soap with water and aroma added. Now I’m making this stuff fresh using a nifty appliance that glows blue for like 1/4 the price – Win!

  • Ana

I expect a lot from my cleaning products. I want them to be tough. I want them to clean AND disinfect thoroughly….and it needs to smell clean…the icing on the cake! With 3 kids and two mischievous cats that climb on counters, I really put this product to the test. And it has delivered 100%. The bonus is that my kids enjoy cleaning with it as well, which I am happy to let them do thanks to its non-toxic nature 🙂

  • Deb and Todd M

What an amazing product it cleaned stubborn mold off the door gasket on my front loading washing machine and eliminated the smell that went along with it! We had tried everything, even the harshest solvents could not remove it. I LOVE that it has no toxic chemicals!!!!!

I’ve used it to remove stains off clothes and to disinfect when cooking with the same great results

I love this product and I am continuing to find more uses everyday!

Thanks for making something that works so amazing and is safe to use!!

  • Julie P.

This is one amazing product! I use it for all cleaning all around the house now and keep looking for new things to clean with it. I am particularly thrilled about using it in the kitchen to wipe down cutting boards after cutting chicken and other meats as I always worried before that the bacteria from chicken would make my family really sick. Some other favorite uses: cleaning electric toothbrushes, de-odorizing our cat’s litter box, and spraying sneakers.

It even got the mold out of my favorite LL Bean picnic bag that somehow got stored over the winter with a banana peel in a pocket. Yuck. I thought I was going to have to throw the bag out but it is as good as new. Another use is to sanitize medical equipment used in the home. I have recommended FON to a friend who uses a CPAP machine every night for sleep apnea; FON is perfect to safely clean and disinfect that equipment.

I would recommend this product to anyone and have had fun demonstrating making a new batch to friends. It is safe to use, extremely effective, environmentally friendly and economical. What more could one ask for? Thank you, Force of Nature!

This is a great product. One member of our household has chemical sensitivity and another is just very sensitive to smells. This product cleans and disinfects vigorously and thoroughly without any strong odors or fumes. It is so effective and pleasant to use compared to bleach or heavily perfumed products that the team who help clean our house ask to take extra with them to use on other jobs. We use it to clean every surface in the kitchen, including a greasy stove, we use it to clean the bathrooms. It has been helpful for removing mold, and we use it to clean and disinfect reusable shopping bags and the kids insulated school lunch bags. It proved its worth by completely removing odor from a pair of canvas shoes worn barefoot and from our teenager’s favorite wear daily shoes. We hit the toothbrushes regularly, and more often when someone has a cold. I use it at work with clients who are often sick – use it to spray down my desk and equipment. Could be luck but I made it through the last year without a cold, flu or pneumonia despite having many people come into my office with all of the above. My husband has even gotten us in the habit of brining it in the car when we go on trips – great when pulling out of a crowded rest-stop. The possibilities for using this are endless – it doesn’t bleach or stain or fade or streak. It has replaced every other surface cleaner in our house and, notably, has supplanted alcohol-based hand sanitizing gels. We are true believers.

I have always been a brand loyal consumer and always believed that Lysol wipes, Fantastic, Windex, whatever the name brand cleaning product’s claims were true. I was doubtful that a cleaner, made from my tap water, without any chemicals, could clean, disinfect and deodorize effectively. But when I made my first batch of Force of Nature (which is so cool – just like a high tech science experiment in my own kitchen!) and then used the product, I was amazed to see how well it cut the grease and grime on my countertops, leaving no film or residue behind! I love the easy pour bottle that I make Force of Nature in, and the ergonomics of the spray bottle feels so good in my hand! The spray is even and wide, covering a large surface and wipes up easily, cleaning and disinfecting with a fresh scent that I know is 100% natural. I feel so great using a non-toxic cleaner, that in my opinion cleans better and leaves less residue, and that I can feel safe using around my children! Goodbye chemical cleaners and hello to my one new all-purpose product! I’m officially a Force of Nature convert!
