kills 99.9 percent of germs

Even more information

Q: Does it kill viruses and bacteria?

A: Yes Force of Nature is an EPA registered disinfectant & sanitizer registered for use in hospitals, ICUs, schools, daycares, veterinary clinics and more. It kills 99.9% of germs including Norovirus, Influenza A, Salmonella, MRSA, Staph & Listeria when used as directed. EPA registration information here.

Q: Does this kill coronavirus?

A: Force of Nature is on the EPA’s list of Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19. Force of Nature has demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to COVID-19 on hard, non-porous surfaces. Therefore, Force of Nature can be used against COVID-19 when used in accordance with the directions for use against Norovirus on hard non-porous surfaces. See EPA Emerging Pathogen Policy. EPA registration information here.

Q: Does it have a scent?

A:  Force of Nature has no added fragrances, so it’s perfect for families struggling with asthma and allergies. It has a light swimming pool scent that’s naturally created when salt, water & vinegar are electrolyzed. The scent is from the active ingredient, hypochlorous acid, which is the same active ingredient commonly used in wound, eye & veterinary care products.

Q: Why does the cleaner only last 2 weeks?

A: Just like bubbles in a carbonated drink, hypochlorous acid starts to dissipate over time. To be sure Force of Nature is at its optimal power, you should use it within 2 weeks. The bottle is 12 oz, vs a typical cleaner which is around 26-32 oz. Most families use about a bottle a week when they use it for all their cleaning, disinfecting & deodorizing needs (replacing disinfectants, deodorizers, kitchen, bath & glass cleaners). Families who also use it on floors & rugs use even more. The light ring around the bottom of the Electrolyzer is color coded to let you know when it’s time to make a new batch.

Q: Are your capsules recyclable?

A:  Yes! And our bottles are re-usable, so you can completely eliminate all those wasteful single-use bottles.

Q: Does it work with hard water?

A:  If you have hard water (> 100ppm), please use a water softener, distilled or de-ionized water instead of tap water. This is because the minerals in hard water interfere with the chemistry, making the cleaner less effective, and can shorten the life of your Force of Nature.

Q: Can I use it to clean stone? On what other surfaces?

A: Use it to clean virtually any surface – sealed stone including granite, marble & quartz, wood, laminate, stainless steel, glass, grout, tile, porcelain, plastic, rubber & even on high chair trays & cutting boards. Deodorize trash, diaper pails, kitty litter, pet toys & bedding. Clean colorfast rugs (great for pet accidents!), stuffed animals, carseats & strollers. Always test first for color fastness in an inconspicuous spot, let dry before proceeding and don’t use on fabrics labeled “only non-chlorine bleach”. Because Force of Nature has no whiteners like bleach or titanium, it won’t remove set in rust, hard water, or mold stains on porous surfaces. With soap scum, depending on build up & surface porosity, you may need a mild abrasive like baking soda with your scrub brush the first few times. This is because soap scum builds up in layers & can require a few applications to break down.

Q: How do I use it to disinfect or sanitize?

A: On hard, non-porous surfaces, clean surface of soil or residue so that the disinfectant can come into contact with every part of the surface. Spray until thoroughly wet, then allow surface to remain wet for 10 minutes. Let dry naturally or wipe with a clean cloth or paper towel.

Great product.. cleans well and I love that it’s all natural..light scent.. I use it on everything, wood, granite, bathtubs and sinks..

  • Jennifer

This is an amazing product. I’ve had mine for a few weeks. Setup was a breeze. The bottles arrived already assembled. All I had to do, was plug in the unit, add tap water and one of the included capsules and voila! The cleaning solution was made right then.

There is absolutely no odor to the cleaning solution and the spray bottle works incredibly well. Better than any other spray bottle I’ve ever used.

Half of one bottle was used to clean my entire house from top to bottom by my cleaning service. They reported (and I observed) that it worked better than just a water and vinegar solution alone and that it was pleasant not having to deal with the vinegar odor. The rest of that bottle has been used to clean up after myself in the kitchen when cooking, clean my dog’s muddy prints off of my floor when he comes inside, and clean up markers from my girls’ art projects.

My favorite part of this product (other than keeping my household free from dangerous chemicals) is that the electronic base displays how long the solution is optimally good for. And yes, if harsh and dangerous chemical preservatives like isothiazolinones are not used solutions, creams, lotions, products, etc. DO expire and they should.

The startup cost of this product is definitely worth it. You receive a lot for your initial investment and purchasing the capsules afterwards is negligible. I actually save money over the long term with this product.

All of my family members (mothers, grandmothers, aunts, etc.) will be receiving a kit (along with beautiful flowers of course) for Mother’s Day.

Absolutely love love love this product. I started cleaning my house yesterday and couldn’t stop. Windows, appliances, kitchen, bathroom, toys, etc. everything came out so clean without any chemicals. Windows streak free, spots on window sils came right out. The best part is that my 3 and 2 yr old LOVED helping and could due to the lack of harmful ingredients.
My husband also has stinky work boots and we’ve been spraying them everynight when he gets home and stink no more!!
Force of nature is amazing. I’ll be recommending to everyone!!

We discovered Force of Nature on Facebook and were intrigued by the simple clean science behind this efficient cleaner. With a toddler and a pet rabbit in the house, and a mom who lives with us who has major allergies, we decided to give it a try. We also have a home that has a lot of engineered wood floor and stone/marble tiles. I am sick of all the different types of “kid friendly” cleaners we have to get. And a lot of these cleaners not only don’t smell all that “natural” they are also not as powerful/efficient in cleaning. After reading the 3rd party lab tests we decided to give it a try and it was amazing. It cuts grease like nothing. Even through it does not have alcohol so we have to wipe it dry to avoid streaks, it is extremely easy to wipe dry! And despite the chlorine smell (some ppl like it, I personally don’t), it does not create the same type of allergic response chlorine does. So it is perfect for our stainless steel stove top. And it is great for windows. It is effective for cleaning toilet seats (we used lysol wipes before they are smelly, and they leave so much liquid and streaks). We used it on our pet rabbit potty area and it does help with odor. It does not take it completely away like it claims but it really removes the general smell in the area. We have yet to test it on stone floors but it is perfect on our marble top.

The only thing I would suggest for improvement is that the spray bottle is a bit tricky to use at first (it takes a few strong squeezes for it to work) but once it works, it is fantastic because it sprays a long and wide angle spray so coverage is great. And it’s sleek to look at. It would be great to have markers to show how much oz so it is easier to measure for mopping floor.

Despite the 2 weeks lifespan for the hypochlorous acid, I am done with the first bottle in about 1.5 weeks. You literally use it for a lot of things and it goes rather quickly so I can’t say it is cheap in the long run but it is safe and efficient.

  • Belinda Seal-Sweet

I really like this item and the fact that I can use it on all surfaces. Works great on my hardwood floors. What I don’t like is the spray bottle. It is more of a pull the trigger and hold method. With arthritis in my hands, I find it really hard to pull the trigger – sometimes having to use both hands. For me it is really difficult to use. The spray area is really narrow.

  • Colleen Eyges

This product is fantastic! Especially since it can be used on multiple surfaces. I use it to clean my whole house,- the kitchen, bathrooms and even the floors. And, it definitely got rid of the smell in my teenage boys shoes which I was starting to think was impossible. I even keep the small travel size bottle in my pocket book to sanitize my hands. I feel so much better knowing that I am not exposing my family (and pets) to toxic chemicals and spreading them all over my house. I highly recommend Force of Nature to everyone looking for a safe alternative to chemical cleaners.

  • Emily

I have been using this product for several weeks and I love it. I love the smell and effectiveness. What I’m not wild about is the spray bottle. It has clogged many times and requires unscrewing the top and readjusting way too often. Not sure how to deal with this problem and would love feedback.

    • Meghan Jones

Hi! We have a new sprayer on its way to you. We hope you like it much better.

  • Libby

Force of Nature has replaced every cleaner in our cupboard except laundry detergent and Windex ( which we use for glass windows and to kill ant infestations during the rainy season in NorCal. Sooo I have room for wrapping paper and ribbon and flower vases of all sizes closer to our utility sink — it’s a no brainer purchase – congrats !

    • Meghan Jones

Hi – I checked & although Force of Nature is as effective as Windex, it won’t kill your ants like ammonia! But we’re glad you are liking it!

  • Sara

I’m obsessed! Force of nature is the best cleaner I’ve ever used. Nothing – not bleach, not special grout/tile cleaner – has done such a great job cleaning my tile kitchen counter. With a spritze of FON and a swipe of a brush, it looks like new. It’s amazing on shower doors too. I’ve been telling everyone to get it. It’s so easy to clean when you use something safe that also works this well. You can do one pass instead of 3. I’m almost excited for spring cleaning this year!

  • Kara

We love force of nature! We now use it on everything! My three year old always wants to help me clean, but before Force of Nature I woukd give her just a spray bottle of water. Now, I don’t mind if she actually helps because I don’t feel like she will get sick or hurt by the product.

We use force of nature to wipe down the high chair, other baby activity equippment such as a jumparoo and a rocker, and to clean all the toys when pink eye made its way through the kids. I use it on the kitchen and bathroom counters, I’ve used it on mirrors and windows. I loved it to deoderize my husband’s gym bag. I’ve used it on puppy accidents on the floor. And all the door nobs in the house. To get dirty fingerprints off my white front door from the kids. My favorite was using it on walls! I have a deep purple paint in my dining room and if they got dirty, water wouldn’t always take off the mess, but if I used any sort of cleaner it would take off the paint. I have retouched the paint on those walls more than I want to coubt, but Force of Nature gets them clean without stripping the paint.

As others have said, this product smalls clean, but isn’t overpowering in any way which is great

Also, the customer service from Force of Nature is amazing! I made a comment to them and they quickly responded and ended up refunding me something that I did not expect from them at all! They wanted me to be completely happy about every aspect and I was genuinely surprised and very impressed.

This is a great product and a great company!

  • Kristen

I am so impressed with this product! I have two little ones and I’ve always hated the idea of using harsh chemicals around them but it seemed some “green” cleaners didn’t really do the trick. I ordered Force of Nature with my fingers crossed. After using it (and now ordering more solution) I can say that it works GREAT!! It has a very light “clean” smell that is very neutral. It works on all kinds of messes and deodorizes fantastically. I love the applicator and the way the mist comes out. It is so easy to use. This product is great for any household!

  • Isy

It does seem to clean easy messes well. Did not do anything for mold in the grout of showers. Or the caked on mess on the stove. Don’t throw out your bleach!

    • Meghan Jones

Hi – We contacted you right away with a couple of tips but haven’t heard back. Your mold on the grout in your shower – if you have staining then it might take a few applications and an abrasive like a scrub brush with baking soda. The reason is that grout staining builds up in layers over time, so it might take a few applications to remove it. Your caked on mess on the stove – it’s critical to really saturate the surface and let it sit for a few minutes if it’s really caked on, but if it’s burned on, you might need a heavy duty industrial strength cleaner vs a regular all-purpose cleaner. Force of Nature is a great all-purpose cleaner but it’s not industrial strength. Hope this helps!
