FAQs

Q: Does it have a scent?

A:  Force of Nature has no added fragrances, so it’s perfect for families struggling with asthma and allergies. It has a light swimming pool scent that’s naturally created when salt, water & vinegar are electrolyzed. The scent is from the active ingredient, hypochlorous acid, which is the same active ingredient commonly used in wound, eye & veterinary care products.

Q: Why does the cleaner only last 2 weeks?

A: Just like bubbles in a carbonated drink, hypochlorous acid starts to dissipate over time. To be sure Force of Nature is at its optimal power, you should use it within 2 weeks. The bottle is 12 oz, vs a typical cleaner which is around 26-32 oz. Most families use about a bottle a week when they use it for all their cleaning & deodorizing needs (replacing kitchen, bath, glass cleaners & deodorizers). Families who also use it on floors & rugs use even more. The light ring around the bottom of the Electrolyzer is color coded to let you know when it’s time to make a new batch.

Q: Does it work with hard water?

A:  If you have hard water (> 100ppm), please use a water softener, distilled or de-ionized water instead of tap water. This is because the minerals in hard water interfere with the chemistry, making the cleaner less effective, and can shorten the life of your Force of Nature.

Q: Can I use it to clean stone? On what other surfaces?

A: Use it to clean virtually any surface – sealed stone including granite, marble & quartz, wood, laminate, stainless steel, glass, grout, tile, porcelain, plastic, rubber & even on high chair trays & cutting boards. Deodorize trash, diaper pails, kitty litter, pet toys & bedding. Clean colorfast rugs (great for pet accidents!), stuffed animals, carseats & strollers. Always test first for color fastness in an inconspicuous spot, let dry before proceeding and don’t use on fabrics labeled “only non-chlorine bleach”. Because Force of Nature has no whiteners like bleach or titanium, it won’t remove set in rust, hard water, or mold stains on porous surfaces. With soap scum, depending on build up & surface porosity, you may need a mild abrasive like baking soda with your scrub brush the first few times. This is because soap scum builds up in layers & can require a few applications to break down.

Q: Are your capsules recyclable?

A:  Yes!

I ordered this product with some skepticism. Now all I have to say is BUY IT. You won’t be disappointed. It does everything it’s advertised to do, has a very light clean scent to it. I started this green cleaning journey because my hubby has lung issues. It doesn’t bother him at all and I feel better knowing he’s breathing easier.

I agree with “Kadie Sobota – June 3, 2019” that the documentation says the numbers should count down and that countdown is is not linear and is confusing to the customer.

User Guide page 13 has “Hard, Non-Pourous Surface Disinfection using Force of Nature Final Solution Spray.” It is not a section header. That is not a sentence.

The directions boast of all the surfaces that it works on but it needs to tell me if I should not wash my lettuce or an apple with it or that I should not try to get a stain out of my shirt with it.

The directions talk of the display on the base but do not show it or what it was going to display. It was not understandable until after I made my first bottle and then saw the display. When I read about leaving it plugged in, it was not clear to me if I needed to leave the Activator bottle in the base plugged in.

That base display is crazy bright and renders it a non-feature. And instead of leaving it plugged in, the directions say to write the date in permanent marker on the spray bottle. How many times can I do that in that space? —Once because I did it with a permanent marker. So that is a not a helpful instruction.

There is a big deal made of not using the solution after 14 days (e.g. that base display). Some places say it loses its power after 14 days. But with such emphasis I was wondering if after 14 days it becomes dangerous, poisonous, or had unwanted effects on surfaces. Do I have to rinse the droplets out of the Activator bottle that are left behind after transfer to the spray bottle?

As for the effectiveness of the solution it makes, I have not come to any conclusion. I know my vinegar spray gets rid of odors well. My hydrogen peroxide spray kills germs. I am still assessing and comparing with my other cleaners.

Hi! We emailed you to make sure you had this info but we’ll leave it here too. It sounds like you missed a couple of sections in the user guide. The timer fluctuation is just Force of Nature adjusting to an inconsistent electrical current. If the electrical stream is consistent, the counter counts time and coulombs (a measure of electrical current) consistently. But often an electrical current fluctuates, so your Force of Nature contains a voltage regulator to adjust the time accordingly. The guide also explains what you see on the display, which is the days counting down so you can keep track of the 14 days. After 14 days, the cleaner loses its efficacy because the disinfecting ingredient, hypochlorous acid, starts to dissipate (like bubbles in a carbonated drink). It’s not dangerous, just not effective as a disinfectant. You certainly don’t have to keep the base plugged in if you don’t like the lights. On the headings & language in parts of our guide, because we’re regulated by the EPA, there is templated language we are required to use that isn’t always as consumer-friendly as we’d like it to be. That’s why we’ve also emailed you to make sure you’re 100% clear on all the info you’re looking for. Thank you so much for giving Force of Nature a try!

So far, so good! I am really, really pleased with this product. I have been using high-quality essential oils and Thieves cleaner. Even concentrated, the Thieves is considerably more expensive than Force of Nature. And I don’t think it works any better.

I like that this product is also non-toxic and still eliminates germs. The 10-minute wait does not bother me. And, truth be told, I don’t always wait.

And the customer service is TERRIFIC!! I actually got to talk to not one but two people, and the wait time was less than a minute. Very nice people. And I found out you can use this on cast iron. A real plus.

I highly recommend this system. I’m so glad I took the risk.

I am so excited about this product. I am a mom of 3 and also have a inhome daycare. I have been searching for a good product for months since my middle child got diagnosed with celiac disease. After her diagnosis I really started researching about products in our household. I have found Force of nature the safest and most cost efficient for our budget and lifestyle. I do a ton of cleaning with 3 kids and a in home daycare. I love that when I run out of the product I can easily make a new bottle. I also got the travel size sprayers and I keep them in the bathrooms for easy cleanups.

My daughter discovered this and uses it as she has a young child with severe food allergies. She uses this to clean and sanitize everything my grand daughter touches.
I was so impressed and amazed I bought the system myself. I have brand new quartz counters and I used to use bleach my old counters and now I cannot use it on them.
I swear by Force of Nature for all my cleaning now. I have a dog and I feel safe spraying FoN on his bedding and my carpets and my furniture to freshen up.
    Awesome product!

I truly can’t say enough about both this product AND their customer service. After a year of heavy use I needed a new part, so I emailed them asking how to order just that part and they confirmed my address and just sent it to me. Without me even asking them to do that! Can’t remember a company doing anything like that before. But even more importantly I truly love the product. It allows me to not freak out when I watch my toddler eat food off the floor, lick his table or drink water out of his bath toys. I know they’re all clean and sanitized! It’s become my favorite product at home and to give as gifts to new parents.

I am sure impressed with how force of nature not only has a fresh clean scent but the way it removes stains and is multipurpose. My kids also love seeing the cleaner bubble u while it’s making.

My base does not work. It is supposed to count down, but instead it just skips around “472, 475, 453 471,465,478.” I can’t be sure the product is as potent as it should be or is lasting as long as it should be because the solution is not bring made for the right amount of time.

Hi – We emailed to let you know that the fluctuation is completely normal – it’s just Force of Nature adjusting to an inconsistent electrical current. Often an electrical current fluctuates, so your Force of Nature contains a voltage regulator to adjust the time accordingly. It turns off not after a specified time, but only when the solution is exposed to a specified volume of coulombs to create the exact concentration of cleaner. That’s why we tell customers that the time is about 6 minutes, not exactly 6 minutes. Thank you so much for trying Force of Nature and we hope you love it!

I love love love this cleaner!!! My mission this year has been to go more chemical free in my home. With a baby on the way and three dogs I am always looking for safe alternatives to harsh chemicals. This smells amazing, removed stubborn smells from furniture, and cleans with ease. My only wish is that the bottles were glass instead of plastic because I’ve been trying to reduce my plastic consumption.

I am hooked for life!! A friend gave me some of this to try when my daughter’s cat peed on her mattress. Do you know how impossible it is to get rid of that smell. My friend made me a double batch in a mason jar and told me to pour it right onto the mattress and let it soak in. I figured I had nothing to lose since I was probably going to have to replace the mattress any way. Well to my delight it worked!! Not only is there no stain but there is not a trace of odor either!! I know use this on everything and I love it!!!

I am new to Force of Nature and have just started testing it on all our surfaces but so far it is phenomenal!! We are 100% in for granite, tile flooring acrylic and glass. Moving next to testing marble and quartz. I’m already discarding other cleaners in the house! I’ll keep you all updated but so far, I’m a huge fan and after spending a year looking for a truly safe cleaner, this is the first that measures up!
