FAQs

Q: Does it kill viruses and bacteria?

A: Yes Force of Nature is an EPA registered disinfectant & sanitizer registered for use in hospitals, ICUs, schools, daycares, veterinary clinics and more. It kills 99.9% of germs including Norovirus, Influenza A, Salmonella, MRSA, Staph & Listeria when used as directed.

Q: Does this kill coronavirus? Does it kill the Delta variant?

A: Force of Nature is on EPA’s list N, the disinfectants approved for use against COVID-19. Force of Nature has demonstrated effectiveness against viruses harder to kill than SARS-CoV-2 on hard, non-porous surfaces. Therefore, Force of Nature can be used against COVID-19 when used in accordance with the directions for use against Norovirus on hard non-porous surfaces. EPA expects all products on List N to kill all strains and variants of SARS-CoV-2. EPA Emerging Pathogen Policy.

Q: Do you have a warranty or guarantee?

A: Yes we have both! As long as you use your Force of Nature according to our instructions, it’s covered by a limited one year warranty. We also have a 100% Happiness Guarantee, which means that if you’re not completely satisfied with your Force of Nature Starter Kit or Bundle, you can return it to us within 30 days for a full refund minus the return shipping cost.

Q: Does it have a scent?

A:  Force of Nature has no added fragrances, so it’s perfect for families struggling with asthma and allergies. It has a light swimming pool scent that’s naturally created when salt, water & vinegar are electrolyzed. The scent is from the active ingredient, hypochlorous acid, which is the same active ingredient commonly used in wound, eye & veterinary care products.

Q: Why does the cleaner only last 2 weeks?

A: Just like bubbles in a carbonated drink, hypochlorous acid starts to dissipate over time. To be sure Force of Nature is at its optimal power, you should use it within 2 weeks. The bottle is 12 oz, vs a typical cleaner which is around 26-32 oz. Most families use about a bottle a week when they use it for all their cleaning, disinfecting & deodorizing needs (replacing disinfectants, deodorizers, kitchen, bath & glass cleaners). Families who also use it on floors & rugs use even more. The light ring around the bottom of the Electrolyzer is color coded to let you know when it’s time to make a new batch.

Q: Are your capsules recyclable?

A:  Absolutely! With our Capsules & reusable bottles, you reduce your plastic waste from typical cleaning products by 97%. Force of Nature is Green Seal certified, which means it meets Green Seal’s highest sustainability standards in 4 areas: preserving the climate, ensuring clean water, minimizing waste, and protecting humans.

Q: Can I use it to clean stone? On what other surfaces?

A: Use it to clean virtually any surface – sealed stone including granite, marble & quartz, wood, laminate, stainless steel, glass, grout, tile, porcelain, plastic, rubber & even on high chair trays & cutting boards. Deodorize trash, diaper pails, kitty litter, pet toys & bedding. Clean colorfast rugs (great for pet accidents!), stuffed animals, carseats & strollers. Always test first for color fastness in an inconspicuous spot, let dry before proceeding and don’t use on fabrics labeled “only non-chlorine bleach”. Because Force of Nature has no whiteners like bleach or titanium, it won’t remove set in rust, hard water, or mold stains on porous surfaces. With soap scum, depending on build up & surface porosity, you may need a mild abrasive like baking soda with your scrub brush the first few times. This is because soap scum builds up in layers & can require a few applications to break down. If you’re using Force of Nature on brass or copper, either rinse with water or wipe until it’s thoroughly dry because it shouldn’t sit on soft metals over time.

Q: Has Force of Nature been tested in 3rd party labs?

A: Yes Force of Nature has been tested by 3rd party independent labs for cleaning performance, germ-kill efficacy, ingredient impact on people, and environmental impact. Germ-kill testing and cleaning performance lab test results vs the leading brands are here. You’ll see that Force of Nature kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria and is just as effective as Windex on glass, Formula 409 on grease, Scrubbing Bubbles on soap scum, Febreze on odors, and Resolve on rugs. Force of Nature has also been given the highest rating by the Mayo Clinic’s allergy rating system. We’re also proud to be Green Seal certified for our sustainability leadership. Green Seal certification is awarded to products that meet the highest sustainability standards in 4 areas: protecting humans, preserving the climate, ensuring clean water, and minimizing waste.

Q: Does it work with hard water?

A:  If you have hard water (> 100ppm), please use a water softener, distilled or de-ionized water instead of tap water. This is because the minerals in hard water interfere with the chemistry, making the cleaner less effective, and can shorten the life of your Force of Nature.

Q: How does the cost of Force of Nature compare to other cleaning products?

A:  The on-going cost of the all-in-one multi-purpose cleaner, deodorizer and disinfectant you make is $.09 an ounce (or $.08 an ounce for subscribers), which is up to 80% less per ounce than typical natural cleaners like Clorox Clean-Up, Seventh Generation Disinfectant Spray, Windex Glass Cleaner, Lysol Disinfectant Spray and Scrubbing Bubbles.

Q: How much Force of Nature would I use?

A:  You’d use the same amount of Force of Nature as you use of the products you replace it with. For example if you use it to replace kitchen, bath, glass, floor cleaners, deodorizers and disinfectant sprays, you’d use the same amount of Force of Nature as you do of those products combined.

Q: Why does the cleaner only last 2 weeks?

A: Just like bubbles in a carbonated drink, hypochlorous acid starts to dissipate over time. To be sure Force of Nature is at its optimal disinfecting power, you should use it within 2 weeks. The bottle is 12 oz, vs a typical cleaner which is around 26-32 oz. Most families use about a bottle a week when they use it for all their cleaning & deodorizing needs (replacing kitchen, bath, glass cleaners & deodorizers). Families who also use it on floors & rugs use even more. The light ring around the bottom of the Electrolyzer is color coded to let you know when it’s time to make a new batch.

Q: How do I use it to disinfect or sanitize?

A: We’re glad you asked because a lot of people don’t know the proper way to use disinfectants (not just Force of Nature)! On hard, non-porous surfaces, clean surface of soil or residue so that the disinfectant can come into contact with 100% of the surface. Spray Force of Nature on surface until thoroughly wet. Allow surface to remain wet for 10 minutes. Let dry naturally or wipe surface with clean cloth or towel. Most people don’t realize that the disinfectants you buy at the store typically have a 10 minute dwell time, and that you need to pre-clean the surface. No matter what disinfectant you use, don’t forget to read the usage instructions carefully.

Having two young children, I wanted to get rid of chemicals in the house. When I first Force of Nature pop up on my sidebar on Facebook, I was skeptical but I bought it and I’ve been sold since! My husband didn’t believe me until I sprayed his stinky shoes! We seriously use this on everything, and has even come in handy when the dogs went through a stomach bug! Thank you Force of Nature for creating an amazing device to turn Salt Vinegar and Water into such a powerful, effective product to keep my family safe

  • Charlie L Trapasso

I received my first Force of Nature a few weeks back. I loved it so much, I purchased a second unit for our 7,000 sq. ft. home. As an advocate for organic living since the 80’s, our home is mostly free of commercial chemicals and toxins. The Force of Nature product will save me the expense and hassle of purchasing 4-5 bottles a week of a variety of organic cleaners. Thank you for creating and providing an ingenious product!

I have a preschooler, so a disinfecting cleaner that was all natural was a must. I love that there’s no harsh chemicals, and that it is safe to use around my child and pets. It is slowly replacing every other cleaner that I’ve had in my house. It works amazing on glass and windows, and is great for disinfecting the little ones lunch pail. My only issue with it is I seem to run out quickly, but thats ok, I just make more. I really really love this product, and am so glad I spent the money to get it.

Love the product. Smells clean, does not leave residue, easy to prepare and gives me a nice feeling that the product is safe for my 5 month old baby.

  • Melanie J Cobb

I’m skeptical how “green ” this is. It smells strongly, almost like bleach! However, it does clean beautifully and removes some ( but not all) odors.

    • Melissa

Hi – The reason it smells like chlorine is that hypochlorous acid (the substance Force of Nature creates) is a type of chlorine. It’s the same type of chlorine that your white blood cells produce to keep you healthy. It’s very different from sodium hypochlorite (bleach) because it’s so safe. Hypochlorous acid is so safe it’s used in a number of wound & eye care products. On odors, the trick is to fully saturate the surface then let it dry. For example if you have a rug with a set in odor from a pet accident, you should soak all the layers of the rug that have been soiled & then let dry. Same goes for stinky sports equipment.

I was disappointed that the timer on the base malfunctioned the first time I used it. The display would count up, down and skip numbers. Ultimately it still made the solution correctly (I think), which was ready in about 5 minutes. The cleaner worked AMAZINGLY on all surfaces, really impressing me on the kitchen and bathrooms! I used a whole bottle the first time I made it yesterday that I don’t feel like calling and waiting for a replacement kit! With two kids, a husband, and a dog, I’ll need the spray on hand for life’s hourly messes.

    • Melissa

Hi – The timer fluctuation is normal. If the electrical stream is consistent, the counter counts time & coulombs (a measure of electrical current) consistently. However, electrical currents are often inconsistent, so Force of Nature contains a voltage regulator. When the electrical current is inconsistent, the counter registers the fluctuating electrical flow & the device adjusts the time accordingly. Force of Nature turns off not after a specified period of time, but only when the solution is exposed to a specified volume of coulombs to create the optimal cleaner concentration. That’s why we tell customers that the time is about 6 minutes, not exactly 6 minutes. Hope this helps!

I love the simplicity and ease of using Force of Nature! No harsh chemicals, it cleans REALLY well, and has no fragrance. I also love that I do not have to throw out plastic containers of all the different cleaners that this replaces. This one bottle takes care of everything. I am buying kits for both of my sons!

  • Ashleigh

I love the Force of Nature product. It works great. Along with a chemical free clean home, I have peace of mind.

  • Jamila Walker

After having my son, it’s been important for me to find and use a cleaner that was safe for him as well as the adults and pets. I hadn’t been too pleased with what I had found so far. That is until I found Force of Nature! We recently moved into a new house and I used FoN throughout the home, it’s been amazing. I’m most certainly impressed!

I do wish the bottle was larger. But I plan on buying a 2nd spray bottle.

  • Audrey Hong

Love this. It cleans everything really well. I love buying this as a house warming gift- bc who doesn’t love a clean house?

  • Samantha B

A rule I live by is that if it sounds too good to be true, walk the other way, but Force of Nature appears to be the exception! I am so impressed with this product–it gets my bathroom really clean without the watering eyes/coughing that I associate with bleach and other powerful disinfectants. I love using this in the kitchen and bathrooms! I did some research about electrolysed water and came across its use in wound care, which definitely soothed any concerns I had about having the product in contact with my skin. I use about a bottle a week in my cleaning. I still use scouring powder in the kitchen sink and a rinseless detergent on floors, although I suspect I’ll begin experimenting with cleaning the floors with it as well. I am so enamored of it that I’ve bought a kit for my mom and have been recommending it regularly!

  • Lisa Wollek

I am a tough customer. I research EVERYTHING thoroughly. I am only convinced by HARD SCIENCE and overwhelming independent reviews. After finding both for Force of Nature, I ordered my kit online. DONE – I will be donating all of my (many) half used bottles of cleansers!

    Pros:
    Non toxic.
    Love the clean “sanitary” scent.
Cleans up grease without streaking or residue.
Tackles pet odors and messes (two dogs).
Disinfects kitchens and bathrooms WITHOUT leaving a residue that needs to be followed up by a water wipe.
Freshens musty fabrics (car trunk, gym bag etc.
    SO FREAKIN SIMPLE TO MAKE.
and lastly – ONE BOTTLE FOR EVERYTHING!!!!! Okay, two, because I wisely purchased a second bottle so I can keep one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom areas for the bathrooms.

    Cons:
So far none. Other than maybe they should offer an option for a double batch of cleanser….. Although I understand the thought process is that they don’t want you to make more than you can use up during its efficacy period (7-14 days). But since I’m using this non-stop, I might buy a random, ;larger bottle to decant 2 batches into.

    GET THIS STUFF!!!!!!
PS. My husband, who is a Dr. confirmed the science behind its disinfecting powers…..
